Sharing the Trail

Located less than two hours west of Charlotte, Chimney Rock State Park offers different hiking trails that can lead to many rockhounding opportunities. The Hickory Nut Falls Trail is a 0.7-mile one-way trail (1.4 miles round trip) that will lead you straight to the base of the waterfall. The hike is relatively moderate and doable for small children. There are multiple picnic benches and places to rest along the trail and enjoy the views. From an overlook point, the land falls away to provide views of the Piedmont. Transfer of the World's Edge tract to state ownership was completed in 2006.

It also has the most facilities, including riverside areas, interpretive exhibits, and gift shops. The free Rumbling Bald and Eagle Rock accesses provide a more rugged backcountry experience. Access to this trail requires paid admission to the attraction. The trailhead is located near the top of the park road; visitors can park at the upper parking area and walk carefully down the park road. Alternatively, there is a set of stairs adjacent to the restrooms in the upper parking area, at the base of the Outcroppings Trail, that leads down to this trail. The park features hiking trails for all skill levels, views of the Devil's Head balancing rock, and a 404-foot (123 m) waterfall, Hickory Nut Falls.

Not only do you gain a sense of achievement, but the panoramic views from the observation deck are just magnificent. This trail has a natural surface, including stone steps. The Great Woodland Adventure would suit well as a self-guided trail for kids, as part of the nationwide network of Kids in Parks Track Trails, but any trail can be utilized. Visitors can download activity brochures, track all of their adventures online, and get prizes on the Kids in Parks website. Please follow safety rules and encourage others to do the same when you are near waterfall areas. Cameron grew up in Charlotte and spent his childhood traveling around this great region.

The opening hours always depend on the time of year, as the season will affect weather patterns and daylight. The street address for the GPS is 431 Main Street, Chimney Rock, NC. Be sure to study the park map upon arrival, there are so many magical spots to see within the wild grounds, other than just the main formation of course. It’s a more recent addition to the NC state park scene, as it existed privately until 2007. The preserved ecology and geology of the area make it a special highlight of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and a mecca for outdoor adventure.

This is the highest peak here, reaching 2,640 feet above sea level, and a stunning vantage point of the captivating scenery. After, it travels to the high point of Hickory Nut Falls for another gander at these gorgeous cascades. Be ready to compete with some crowds, but also to experience a vast sweeping vista that stretches out over 75 feet into the rugged landscape of western North Carolina. Either way, the payoff of a panorama 2,280 feet above sea level is well worth the journey. There are two routes to get to the top of the iconic Chimney Rock formation, for which the park is named.

Meander through lush dense forest on this trek before reaching the upper cascades of the Park’s 404-foot waterfall. Be sure to hike the Hickory Nut Falls trail, one of the highest in the East. The trailhead is located across the stairs leading to the top of the Chimney. About a half hour west of Charlotte, Crowders Mountain State Park offers hikes to cliffsides that are home to many rockhounding vistas. This park is known best for The Pinnacle and Crowders Mountain.

Located near the elevator, the gift shop sells local pieces as well as apparel, magnets, and more. Chimney Rock’s Animal Discovery Den is home to several animals who serve as ambassadors to educate about the park’s wildlife. In the Den, you’ll meet Mufasa the Eastern King Snake, Petunia the Snapping Turtle, and Ossie the Opossum, among many others. I personally like the hike up because you get a lot of different perspectives of Chimney Rock and the rest of the park. Plus, you pass through the Subway (a small tunnel) and other scenic walkways. To reach the top of Chimney Rock, you’ll have to drive up to the base of the monument.

The views from Pulpit Rock, Chimney Rock, the Opera Box, and Hickory Nut Falls were all beautiful. Overall its a great park to visit and do some moderate hiking. None of the trails that we were on were super strenuous but there are a lot of stairs in several places.

Me and husband decided that we were not going to take the elevator and just hike all the way up. It was a fun experience but next time we will take the elevator so we can see the rest of the park. Once you make it to where the flag pole is your not going to want to hike up the rest of the way if you didn't take the elevator. There is also two views of a water fall but we only did the bottom view.

And there are a couple of walking trails that take you up to the mountain above Chimney Rock which offer incredible views you won’t see anywhere else in the Park. The trailhead is located at Eagle Rock access, located at 1911 Shumont Road in Black Mountain. Eagle Rock is free to access, but there is currently limited parking, so please be prepared to make alternate plans if the parking area is full upon arrival. Set on the south face of Rumbling Bald Mountain are numerous rock climbing opportunities for all skill levels. There is no fee to try your hand at some scrambling here, but it’s important to plan ahead as a registration and permit are required beforehand. It’s a moderate to strenuous trek and follows a series of switchbacks up the mountain ridge to Peregrine’s Point.

It’s a half-mile loop that includes the added bonus of 12 discovery stations along the route. It’s a wonderful blend of ecological education and whimsy. This trail is short but strenuous, climbing nearly 400 feet in elevation in just over half a mile. It meanders through dense deciduous forest and eventually connects with the Hickory Nut Falls Trail. This famous foray within the park culminates in a 400-foot cascade that is not to be missed. It’s an easy North Carolina hike that is both wide and gentle and only 1.5 mile round trip.

📷 Fort Macon State Park, NC#hikingpartner #fortMacon #hikingviews#hikingtime #hikingvibes #femalehiker #nctrails #ncstateparks... This trail is located inside the Chimney Rock attraction and starts at Exclamation Point. It guides visitors even higher in elevation to Peregrine Point at 2,460 feet. The trailhead is located at the end of the upper parking area, past the restrooms. Pets must be on an attended leash of no longer than 6 feet at all times. Please pick up after your pet when you are at the park; pet waste is not fertilizer and can put plants, other animals, and visitors at risk for disease.

Beyond the Outcroppings Trail to Chimney Rock and the Hickory Nut Falls Trail, here are some other fun hiking trails with those two. Hickory Nut Falls is the second major attraction inside Chimney Rock State Park. This 404-foot waterfall is one of the tallest in North Carolina and the Eastern United States. Ticket prices may change based on the season and closures of parts of the park. Chimney Rock State Park also offers an annual pass, as well as two-day passes. You can buy your ticket here and redeem it at the Ticket Plaza before entering the park.

With the death toll rising from the conflict in Gaza, however, Nicaragua had also asked the I.C.J. to issue an emergency order for Germany to halt its arms exports to Israel altogether and to ensure that weapons already supplied were not unlawfully used. A final decision on that Nicaraguan complaint may have to await the court’s decision on a separate case brought by South Africa, alleging that Israel has committed genocide. The United Nation’s highest court on Tuesday rejected a request from Nicaragua to order Germany to stop supplying arms to Israel. Asked about the attack, the Israeli military said in a statement that overnight, Israeli civilians had “caused damage” to aid on several trucks from Jordan “secured” by Israeli forces. The ministry said that the settlers dumped some of the aid onto the street. The cease-fire talks were a focus of Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken as he visited Israel on Wednesday. “There is a proposal on the table, and as we’ve said, no delays, no excuses,” Mr. Blinken said before meeting with President Isaac Herzog. He later discussed the talks and other issues in a nearly three-hour meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken said on Wednesday that Hamas leaders could save Palestinian lives by accepting a proposed deal under which they would free 33 hostages in exchange for a six-week cease-fire and the liberation of many Palestinian prisoners.

Mr. Biden’s opponent in 1996 and 2002 was Ray Clatworthy, an entrepreneur who owned restaurants and local Christian radio stations. During a 1996 televised debate, Mr. Clatworthy accused Mr. Biden of raising taxes while voting to increase his own salary and accused him of ‘attempting to portray himself as a conservative’ in an election year. The former president declined to comment, and generally avoided the issue in his rally in Waukesha, instead repeating that he thought it should be up to states to regulate the procedure, the Journal Sentinel reports.

‘Thank you, American universities’: Gazans express gratitude for campus protesters.

He said more than 5,000 trucks of food, medicine and other goods have entered Gaza since then, with about 200 more trucks a day and sometimes as many as 400. In anticipation of an offensive, some families in Rafah have been moving north into areas of Gaza that had already been attacked by Israeli forces, but on Tuesday, the scale of the evacuation remained unclear. As of last week, more than one million Gazans, many of them previously displaced from other parts of the territory by Israeli bombardment, were still sheltering in the city in makeshift tents. “The idea that we will halt the war before achieving all of its goals is out of the question,” the Israeli premier told relatives of hostages on Tuesday.

Global Clue

The White House said on Tuesday that “time is of the essence” for cease-fire talks in the Middle East as negotiators tried to broker a deal to pause the war in Gaza and secure the release of dozens of hostages held by Hamas since the Oct. 7 terrorist attack. The new kingdom was one of the poorest countries in the world, reliant on limited agriculture and pilgrimage revenues. In 1938, vast reserves of oil were discovered in the Al-Ahsa region along the coast of the Persian Gulf, and full-scale development of the oil fields began in 1941 under the U.S.-controlled Aramco (Arabian American Oil Company). Oil provided Saudi Arabia with economic prosperity and substantial political leverage internationally. Saudi Arabia has since become the world’s largest oil producer and exporter, controlling the world’s second largest oil reserves and the sixth largest gas reserves.

Of course, sometimes there’s a crossword clue that totally stumps us, whether it’s because we are unfamiliar with the subject matter entirely or we just are drawing a blank. Biden spoke Sunday with Netanyahu, stressing his support for the war against Hamas while again pushing for increased humanitarian aid flows into Gaza as Palestinians there experience dismal conditions. And the Jordanian military and government have in recent weeks increased the amount of aid arriving in overland convoys, which travel from Jordan through the West Bank and across part of Israel before reaching the southern Gaza border crossings.

The Saudi dynasty started in central Arabia in 1744 when the secular leader Muhammad ibn Saud joined forces with the Islamic scholar and Imam, Muhammad ibn Abd-al-Wahhab. At the time, Saud was a ruler of a town near Riyadh and he was determined to bring “true” Islam to the Arabian peninsula. Since 1744 the fortunes of the Saudi family have risen and fallen, but it is that same family who rules what we know today as Saudi Arabia. Israeli officials have said repeatedly that they plan to move into Rafah, but over the weekend, they made clear they were open to holding off if it meant they could secure the release of hostages taken when Hamas attacked Israel on Oct. 7. One official also suggested that Israel was using the threat of an imminent military maneuver to press the armed group into a hostage deal. The vote on Wednesday comes as renewed protests have swept across college campuses in opposition to Israel’s war in Gaza.

“The special thing is that this is happening in America and that people there are still aware and the awareness is growing every day for the Palestinian cause,” he added. Palestinians “are very happy that there are still people standing with us,” said Mohammed al-Baradei, a 24-year-old recent graduate from the dentistry program at Al-Azhar University who spoke by phone from Rafah. The protests have come at a particularly fearful time in Rafah, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel vowing to launch a ground invasion of the city to root out Hamas battalions there despite glimmers of hope for a temporary cease-fire. If Israel and Hamas strike an agreement, it would be the first cease-fire since late November, when a short-lived pause in the fighting allowed for the release of more than 100 hostages and 240 Palestinian prisoners.

That change was prompted in part by the fact that Israel now believes that some of the 40 have died in captivity, one of the officials said. It was not clear whether Hamas would accept the most recent Israeli proposal, which is part of negotiations that the two sides are conducting indirectly through mediators from Egypt and Qatar. As of Wednesday afternoon, the group hadn’t officially issued a response.

On Sunday, Mr. Biden spoke with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel. That is too much for Mr. Foara, who before the war was paid about $400 per month as a civil servant for the Palestinian Authority, a rival to Hamas. He is determined to keep his family alive, but sometimes the weight of the tragedy that has befallen them — and the rest of Gaza — is almost too much to bear. The war in Gaza has killed more than 34,000 people, according to local health authorities. Some 1.7 million — in a territory of roughly 2.2 million — have been driven from their homes, many of them multiple times, according to the United Nations.

Kirby lauded American intelligence systems and assets that allowed them to determine, along with Israel and other allies, that Iran was preparing to attack on April 13. But just four short days later, after Israel responded with military strikes inside Iran, the White House didn’t want to talk about its world-class intel. John Kirby, White House national security communications adviser, was downright braggadocious on April 15 as he spiked the proverbial football over how U.S. military forces helped Israel thwart an unprecedented attack by Iranian missiles and drones. ANALYSIS — White House officials remain mum about a purported Israeli counterstrike on Iranian soil, the continuation of a stark message shift about American and allied intelligence capabilities in the Middle East over just a few short days. The comments were yet another indication that Americans should be prepared for a rocky election aftermath, should Trump lose in November to Biden. After the Democrat defeated him in 2020, Trump spent weeks attempting various plots to prevent Biden from taking power, culminating in the attack on the Capitol on January 6. Of course, there’s the chance that Trump could indeed win election again, as he did in 2016 – polls currently show a tight race with Biden, including in Wisconsin. But he gave Israel credit for doing more to ease the humanitarian crisis in Gaza since Mr. Biden threatened to rethink his support for Israel’s military operation during a call with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel four weeks ago. Abdul Aziz Ibn Saud, the first king of Saudi Arabia, ruled for 21 years. In 1953, Saud of Saudi Arabia succeeded as the king of Saudi Arabia upon his father’s death, until 1964 when he was deposed in favor of his half brother Faisal of Saudi Arabia, after an intense rivalry, fueled by doubts in the royal family over Saud’s competence. In 1975, Faisal was assassinated by his nephew, Prince Faisal bin Musaid, and was succeeded by his half-brother King Khalid. He was succeeded by his brother, King Fahd, who added the title “Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques” to his name in 1986 in response to considerable fundamentalist pressure to avoid use of “majesty” in association with anything except God.

Thousands of people who receive government benefits, including Universal Credit, will be paid as early as tomorrow. Protest leaders across the country, however, have rejected that characterisation. Instead, they accuse administrators and local officials of conflating support for Palestinians with anti-Semitism. US lawmakers also have upped the pressure on university administrators to quash the protests, which they have portrayed as inherently anti-Semitic.

The Take: University protests spread across the US

Details about the attack, including where it happened and how much aid was dumped or damaged, were not immediately released by the Israeli military or the Jordanian foreign ministry, though both said the trucks ultimately managed to reach Gaza. Hanging over the negotiations is Israel’s threat to invade Rafah, the southernmost city in Gaza where roughly a million civilians are sheltering, along with what Israel says are thousands of Hamas fighters. But even as it vows to carry out its plan for a ground invasion there, in defiance of pleas from world leaders and humanitarian groups, it is showing some willingness to make concessions in talks to stop the fighting and free hostages. One of the Israeli officials said those returning to the north would be subject to no inspections or limitations, while the second said there would be nearly no restrictions, without elaborating. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity to share details of the proposal. According to a statement from the office of President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt, he and Mr. Biden discussed the negotiations and Egypt’s efforts to broker a cease-fire.

The top solutions are determined by popularity, ratings and frequency of searches. Some good news is expected for UK workers as the OECD said there will be "stronger" wage growth when inflation is factored in against pay. Aldi's rival discounter, Lidl, saw sales surge 9.5%, bumping its market share up to 8.2%.

But critics warn IHRA’s definition could be used to stifle campus protests against Israel’s war in Gaza, which has claimed the lives of 34,568 Palestinians so far. The United States House of Representatives has overwhelmingly passed a bill that would expand the federal definition of anti-Semitism, despite opposition from civil liberties groups. But Israeli officials have said that negotiators have reduced the number of hostages they want Hamas to release during the first phase of a truce, opening up the possibility that the stalled negotiations could be revived. In 1951, under a mutual defense agreement, the U.S. established a permanent U.S. Military Training Mission in the kingdom and agreed to provide training support in the use of weapons and other security-related services to the Saudi armed forces.

But in presenting its case before the I.C.J., it argued that its shipments to Israel are always licensed under German and European rules. The main thrust of Germany’s argument was that almost all of its recent military assistance to Israel was nonlethal aid. Israel has repeatedly denied accusations that it is carrying out a genocide in Gaza, arguing that its military has worked to preserve civilian life and that Hamas has used civilians as human shields.

That is a federal anti-discrimination law that bars discrimination based on shared ancestry, ethnic characteristics or national origin. Adding IHRA’s definition to the law would allow the federal Department of Education to restrict funding and other resources to campuses perceived as tolerating anti-Semitism. If the bill were to become law, it would codify a definition of anti-Semitism created by the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) in Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Roughly a quarter of the tax’s proceeds would go toward alternate modes of construction and the purchase of existing buildings.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel asked Donald Trump for his thoughts on Wisconsin’s abortion ban, which is being challenged before the state supreme court, where liberal justices recently gained a majority. There were many cases of sexual abuse by priests in the diocese, first reported as dating from the 1930s. Cases were ignored or dealt with secretly until the 21st century, when priests were dismissed and a report and apology produced. In 1853, Pope Pius IX erected the Metropolitan Archdiocese of San Francisco, taking the territory that now constitutes Nevada, Utah, and much of northern California from the diocese and making the diocese a suffragan thereof.

Voters want the government to focus on shelter for homeless people living in the streets, even if those efforts are short term, a poll has found. Los Angeles County voters support a legal right to shelter for all, but are less enthusiastic about enacting new taxes to build housing for the homeless, a new poll finds. Los Angeles County officials are eyeing a new income tax on millionaires to help address the region’s growing crisis of homelessness, but one of the county board’s three liberal members broke ranks to at least temporarily halt the push. Opponents say the tax could drive up rents and make Los Angeles a harder place to do business, causing firms to flee the city. A simple majority of votes cast in Tuesday’s election is required for passage. “United to House L.A.,” the “mansion tax,” would impose a one-time 4% tax on property sales above $5 million that would rise to 5.5% on transactions above $10 million.

Killing of 4 officers underscores risks police face when serving warrants

charlotte to california

We did not get to Phoenix until almost 3 hours after we were originally supposed to. This was the first and last time I will be flying Frontier. The grim risks came into stark relief Monday when four law enforcement officers were killed in North Carolina while serving an arrest warrant. The attack in Charlotte left four other officers wounded and became the worst attack on police in the U.S. since 2016. My husband didn't get boarded on this flight. He was asked to pay $50 extra by the Frontier staff to get two boarding passes for check-in at the Las Vegas airport.

The pilot claimed an internal issue then an external equipment issue that needed to be adddressed. Flight was fine, it was delayed but only 30 minutes, staff were efficient, lady making announcements at LAX was really hard to understand but the rest were great. Lost baggage on my connecting flight. 24 hours later, still no update on my bags.

We had to wait again for the okay to the pilot to take off so we were on the runway for another 20 min. Overall, we were delayed over 2 hours which felt like 4 hours. First the good, everyone was friendly and efficient. Flight was smooth and plane was very clean and new. Now the bad, seats have almost no padding on your behind.

The boarding process takes forever with people waiting on the jetway even though most folks do not have carry-on. The whole process is poorly managed. In 2020, a Philadelphia police officer was shot and killed as he served a homicide warrant at a home, officials said.

The text told me it was changed to Terminal E and Gate D5. But with no one on site to ask questions there was confusion on where to go as all the gates were E's. Then we took the skyline to the D area. We left to get something to eat. No announcement was made but my daughter happened to asked and they told her our gate was moved to D12.

It was not good compared to other airlines. Not sure on a flight departing at midnight can be much better but it was late arriving and I had an early day so really just the logistics. Eells, of the National Tactical Officers Association, said police must consider a multitude of factors before serving a warrant.

For American I always have to connect from the end of terminal E to the end of terminal B and the stupid moving walkways are always broken. And the flights to all seem of least importance so they never leave on time in either direction. Probably not AA fault but caused a 1 hour delay.

We received the luggage after 48 hours, many of which spent holding with non-existent United customer service. Never able to speak to an actual person during those long phone calls. Finally on a chatline I could talk to a baggage agent, who filed another report as our luggage did not appear anywhere in their system. Thus it was surprising to get it back.

Better movie options as well as equipment that works smoother could be nice. My ear buds from the airline didn’t work and my tv screen had a terrible delay that made it hard to search for things to watch. Also the selections were very limited. Fueled by insecurity, Macbeth also has Banquo murdered. Now guilt and madness cause Macbeth to be haunted by visions of Banquo. His response is not remorse but rather a reign of terror. Macbeth loses control of his own mind and ultimately loses everything. For this show, the story is like a game, and girls all willingly play, waiting to see who will be the first to say stop.

- Seattle

I will refrain from providing any details as this fresh adaptation deserves to be seen with fresh eyes. Hats off to the entire production staff for embracing the story in all its gore. The show comes with a well-earned graphic violence warning and is suggested for age sixteen and up. I would allow my fourteen year-old daughter to see it if only for the knowledge of the show's power to make Shakespeare relevant and spur my young thespian past her fear of iambic pentameter. Schweiger Dermatology Group was founded to help make excellent dermatology care accessible throughout the Northeast. In 2010, Dr. Eric Schweiger started the practice with a single location in Midtown Manhattan.

What services do you offer at Schweiger Dermatology Group?

Izabel Mar as Lady Macbeth was perhaps my favorite, if a favorite is possible from this cast. The 400-year old lines dripped from her lips as if they truly were her very own thoughts. Charlotte Schweiger was the lucky but deserving recipient of the part of Macbeth. While it is her ambition that drives the whole story, she is often unwilling to accept responsibility for the results of her unchecked ambition. It is Schweiger who ultimately makes us believe that the tale of Macbeth is still present among us, in the often unexplored depths of depravity. Here she leads the rest, rather of her own volition or pressured from the pack, it matters not.

Previous credits include The Son, Palabra de Ladrón, Reina de corazones, and Pasión Morena. If there’s one thing, Dear Readers, that Disney is good at, it’s spectacle. But when you take that spectacle and combine it with one of their most musically magical properties such as “Aladdin”, it should end up with theatrical gold for the whole family. When the genie first poked his head from the lamp on stage back in 2011, I’ll admit it was less than magical. But, by the time it went to Broadway it grew by leaps and bounds. And even now, this tour currently playing at the Paramount, they seem to have updated some of their Disney Imagineering to make the experience even more magical and when combined with a killer cast, just hold on for a good time.

A black wall and tattered, overturned sofa; an old tire; a filthy bathtub and dead, dry grass set the scene (the work of set designer Catherine Cornell), reflective of the work’s grim tone and portending doom. In standard private school uniforms, the young actors are schoolgirls retelling the story of ambition gone awry. Lady Macbeth, played by local actress Izabel Mar in her Seattle Rep debut, skillfully personifies one of the most formidable female characters in the Shakespearean canon.

Ranked #1 in Dermatology

The tales linking masculinity with violence have become to ubiquitous, and we have become numb. This new retelling of Macbeth, adapted by the stupendous (there really is no other word) Erica Schmidt brings us back to the truth of the horrific nature of Macbeth's actions. The staging and stunts throughout the show elicit a sinister uneasiness. The set is used in so many innovative ways that I found myself trying to guess how some objects might be used.

Paola Nuñez as Esme Carmona

Paola Nuñez will play Esme Carmona, an NFFA surveillance expert whose life is dedicated to ensuring no one breaks the rules of Purge night. She thinks that the NFFA works and she works for surveillance,” Nuñez said as she shared her thoughts about her character with The Work Print. “The reason that Esme started working for the NFFA was that she had a really traumatic experience with her family. She feels betrayed by the system and that’s when everything changes for her.” Before landing her starring role in The Purge, Nuñez was most recently seen alongside Will Smith and Martin Lawrence in the feature film Bad Boys For Life.

The three witches played by Sophie Kelly-Hedrick, Laakan McHardy, and Analiese Mereson Guettinger are harbingers of good things to come in the theater world. They displayed precise comedic timing, fierce energy, and decadent mischievousness. Tamsen Glaser as Banquo was freakishly awesome, especially in ghost form. Klarissa Maria Robles as Macduff was understated and subtle, but brilliant in her own way as the only character left with any moral authority.

Schmidt and Seattle Repertory Theatre have reminded us why we love Shakespeare and why we must keep searching for the truths of today within the texts. We are reminded how good men, or in this case good girls, are capable of appalling things. When passion is high and goes unchecked, when a trusted friend or love whispers not caution but rather incites, even heroes can fall. I would go back to see this show again "tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow."

Likewise, Macbeth herself (played by Charlotte Schweiger) portrays the role’s shift from overwrought Thane of Cawdor to hubristic King of Scotland as convincingly. A versatile supporting cast—most playing multiple roles—complete the talented young group. Charlotte Schweiger is a German actress.Charlotte Schweiger is a beautiful and skilled actress from the United States.

When he saw the need for high-quality dermatology care that did not require weeks or months of waiting to see a qualified provider, his vision of a multi-location practice was born. Playing Max Martini, a laser-focused character whose entire year is spent getting ready for Purge night, is Ryan Grant. Download the Peacock app and start streaming full episodes of The Purge. Due to a prophecy from three witches, Macbeth believes he is destined to be king, so much so that he is willing to remove the obstacle in his path, the current king. Egged on and aided by Lady Macbeth who questions his manhood if he is unwilling to act, the deed is done. The prophecy also foretold of future kings from descendants of Banquo.

When no one will call the bluff, the game becomes real. In the end, they can only muse, "we really did go on three." We want you to become a part of the fabric of your new community. We take the challenge of earning your trust and loyalty to heart.

Ben, a clean-cut student whose life changes dramatically when he goes out on Purge night for the first time, is played by Joel Allen. Catching up with The Work Print at Comic-Con, the young actor gave us a little insight into his character, and what we can expect of him in the upcoming season. “Ben is really an average dude with really average grades,” he explained. “You really feel like, “Well, what would I do if I was in that situation on my first Purge.” Prior to The Purge, Allen was best known for his performance in the Sundance comedy Never Goin’ Back (2018), and can next be seen in Rollers and What Breaks the Ice. The unlikeliest of casts is also unanimously remarkable. The commitment, sure-footedness, and dedication to the story are evident in each member of the cast.

Cruise Outfits to Wear on Your Next Cruise Vacation 2024

what to wear on a dinner cruise

The designation of "semi-formal" has the advantage of flexibility for both men and women. Cocktail dresses with heels are standard for women, while men should opt for dress pants and collared shirts. Jeans are occasionally acceptable, but only if they are dark and without holes or other signs of wear. It may be helpful to think of a semi-formal dinner cruise as a somewhat relaxed version of a formal one.

Disney Cruise Line dress code

Now before the fun of exploring, keep in mind you’ll be doing a lot of waiting around to get on the ship, plus going through security, and perhaps waiting for your room to be ready.

what to wear on a dinner cruise

Ultimate Guide: What to Wear on a Cruise – Dress Code Tips for Formal Nights & More

Keep a rain jacket or fleece handy in case you want to soak up the scenery from outside. So, if you prefer a casual and more relaxed type of vacation, Carnival is one of your best ever choices. For those not enjoying so much the opportunity to dress up for dinner "like them ladies and gentlemen", "Nightly Casual" is always OK in the Lido buffet-style restaurants on the boat. There's one such casual dining restaurant on each Carnival ship - a buffet during the day, and open nightly as a bistro.

What clothes should you wear on a cruise?

If you’re wondering what to wear during embarkation day, you want to take your cue from the weather in port. While ships start letting passengers board around noon on the day of your cruise, the ship won’t actually leave until around 4-5 p.m. On a cruise you don’t have the luxury of your complete wardrobe and closet to pick from. That means you’ve got to pack for what to wear in a variety of different situations that you’ll find while on the ship.

Understanding Cruise Dress Codes

Its passengers enjoy a more traditional cruise experience, and they relish the romantic vibe that a formal night can provide. With that in mind, the line doesn't mention super-fancy garb like ball gowns or tuxes; instead, it advises suits or slacks with jackets for men and cocktail dresses or pantsuits for the ladies. For a casual dinner cruise, opt for comfortable yet stylish attire. Women can choose a sundress, maxi dress, or even a pair of tailored pants with a blouse. Men can consider wearing khakis or chinos with a collared shirt or a polo shirt.

For men, Marine Layer’s Saturday Stretch Beach Pant offers a more structured onboard look with a similar drawstring waist. Check out the brand’s Garment Dye Crew Sweaters, too, for a look to dress up or down. Made from 100 percent linen, Athleta’s Retreat Wide Leg Linen Pant for women goes as well with a simple tank top as a gauzy button-up shirt, like this one from Encircled made from organic cotton. Remember, when choosing accessories, it’s important to strike a balance between style and practicality. Avoid overly cumbersome or delicate pieces that may hinder your movement or be easily damaged during the cruise. If you plan to use the spa, which we would encourage, don’t worry about bringing a robe; these are provided for you.

If you’re going to the beach, you can wear a bathing suit under a light sundress or cover up. Not quite dressy, but not too laid-back, resort casual strikes a useful balance between flip-flops and stilettos (women) and oxfords and tennis shoes (men). Resort casual is the realm of boat shoes and leather sandals and is often a gray area for would-be cruisers. For women, however, capris, sundresses and knee-length skirts are always acceptable, while men can't go wrong with khakis, golf shirts and button-ups. Take along a cardigan or an attractive pullover for cool sea breezes. Women can simply wear a cocktail dress or a nice blouse with pants.

Formal or Semi-Formal Dress Code

In this section, we will discuss the specific attire recommendations for tropical cruises, Mediterranean cruises, and Alaskan cruises. When the sun dips below the horizon and the evening lights begin to twinkle on deck, cruise guests delight in the opportunity to showcase their style with cruise evening wear. As the ambiance onboard shifts to a more elegant setting, passengers are faced with the delightful decision of what to wear to encapsulate the sophistication of the sea at night. When sunlight graces the decks of your cruise ship, your attire should blend comfort and style suitable for many activities. From breakfast on the balcony to exploring exotic destinations, choosing the right day wear is essential. This section will guide you through the essentials for comfort and style, ensuring your cruise wardrobe is on point from dawn to dusk.

what to wear on a dinner cruise

What to Wear to Dinner (Casual Night)

Men can opt for a waterproof jacket or coat, paired with pants or jeans. Waterproof boots or shoes with rubber soles are ideal for navigating through wet conditions. Men can also start with a base layer, such as a thermal shirt, and layer it with a sweater or a fleece jacket. Pair it with jeans or trousers and wear insulated boots for added warmth. A stylish wool coat or a waterproof jacket will provide the necessary protection against the cold weather.

If you decide to not dress up, then you certainly won’t be out of place. Many people choose to dress casually and just eat somewhere else other than the main dining room or higher-end restaurants. Even so, formal nights are popular and when you walk around the ship in the evening on one of these nights, there is no mistaking that it’s dressier than normal. For Smart Casual evenings on a Caribbean cruise, consider packing outfits that are just a bit more dressy than what you’d wear for casual night. I've selected a jumpsuit, versatile blouse, floral skirt and two dresses that would work well with Royal Caribbean's dress code. Packing light is an essential skill when it comes to traveling, and a dinner cruise is no exception.

The quintessential cruise style is easy to pull off; think vibrant colors, tropical prints and lightweight fabrics. By mixing and matching these pieces, you can create various outfits suitable for different occasions, whether it’s a formal dinner or a more casual gathering. This approach not only saves you from overpacking but also allows you to make the most of your wardrobe options during your cruise.

Some cruisers go all out, as if they'd stepped off a luxury liner from the 1920s. If this appeals, you can't go wrong with a tuxedo (black or white) or gown. Some of Disney Cruise Line's added-fee restaurants, such as Remy — one of the most expensive alternative eateries at sea — require jackets for men and don't allow jeans. Disney Cruise Line is synonymous with children, and children like to be comfortable. With that in mind, just about anything goes in terms of dress on The Mouse's ships, which tend toward casual in spite of their stellar service and high price point.

Most passengers tend toward resort wear or, at the bare minimum, nice jeans with pressed T-shirts. For dinner, you'll want to dress it up even more, as the line has a smart-casual dress code at night in most restaurants, including the main dining room. Anything from unripped jeans to dress pants with nice blouses or button-downs is acceptable. On most ships, this clothing will also be acceptable at night in the main dining rooms. For extra-fee restaurants, you might choose to dress up a bit more -- perhaps collared shirts or long-sleeve button-downs for men and slacks with a blouse, or a dress, for women.

The dress code onboard Costa Cruise Line's ships is overall casual. Generally, formal nights, sometimes called gala evenings or chic evenings, call for a tuxedo, suit or dress pants and a sports jacket for men. However, in our experience in recent years, this has relaxed quite a bit and tuxedos in particular are far less common.

However, most men choose slacks with collared or button-down shirts and jackets, sans ties. Most women choose slacks and nice blouses, sundresses or party dresses. Though it's tempting to pack everything, cruise outfits are meant to be laid-back, so plan to wear a few items of clothing more than once — no one will judge you, promise. Pack a few key staple pieces that can be paired together in several different mix and match styles — this is called a capsule wardrobe. If you're wondering what to pack for a five-day cruise, bring along six shirts, six sets of underwear, and three to four bottoms. Then, throw in at least two swimsuits, so you always have one dry.

Most of the time, men can wear a variety of button-down shirts for Smart Casual nights on European cruises with Royal Caribbean, especially breezy shirts made of linen for warmer sailings. Linen pants are great to pack for warmer months because it's very breathable. If you are packing for a European cruise with Royal Caribbean, you’ll want to ensure you’ve packed outfits for evenings onboard the ship. The 133,500-gross-ton cruise ship can welcome 3,934 passengers aboard at double occupancy, or as many as 4,977 guests when fully booked with all berths filled. The captain received an emergency alert about the stranded men and immediately steered the ship towards them — and away from its planned course — to save them. "Our wonderful Pacific Dawn team have followed the highest maritime traditions going to the aid of fellow seafarers in peril. A cruise ship has rescued three men - one from Sydney and two from the NSW Hunter region - who were found adrift in a liferaft off the coast of New Caledonia. A relatively small segment of the boating population truly needs a life raft. Johnson's wife then reportedly contacted marine authorities in Noumea—the capital of New Caledonia—who alerted a P&O Cruises vessel in the area of the distress call.

In a swift response, the cruise ship halted and successfully recovered the raft, rescuing six crewmembers of the small cargo ship. After learning of six more missing crewmembers, the Dominican Republic Navy was alerted. Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Vista rescued six men near the Dominican Republic in the early morning hours of Wednesday, December 13, 2023, after a small cargo vessel capsized overnight. Six additional crew members are still missing and search and rescue operations are underway by United States Coast Guard authorities. After the rescue, Amodio said the cruise ship’s captain announced that the crew had rescued 14 people stranded at sea for eight days.

They arranged a transfer and a Navy boat came to pick up the two kayakers soon after the initial rescue, Carnival said. There’s still no official word on what exactly caused the men’s boat to sink in the first place. The coast guard says the weather was less than ideal for a rescue like this and credits training and hard work to the successful mission. The men were taken to the hospital, and the coast guard says, all 12 survivors are doing okay after a terrifying ordeal in the ocean. In a Facebook post, P&O Cruises said the three men "couldn't be happier" to be spending the night safe aboard the Pacific Dawn. "It was just panic stations," Ben Johnson, one of the three seafarers, told the newspaper.

How to Choose a Life Raft for Your Boat

The ship has already visited Nassau, and is visiting Amber Cove on Wednesday, just hours after the rescue. Carnival Vista brought six men on board early Wednesday morning near the Dominican Republic after they got stranded overnight. Carnival said the Coast Guard successfully rescued the six additional people. The cruise ship then continued with its voyage — heading to Mahogany Bay, Roatan which it visited on Tuesday. Crew members let Carnival’s fleet operation center staff in Miami know of their rescue and both contacted Mexican Navy officials.

The survivors “were reported in good health,” the Coast Guard said in a news release. Officials advised that Carnival Vista resume its route and the ship continued to its planned stop at Amber Cove on Wednesday. Vista is on a six-day Caribbean cruise that departed from Florida’s Port Canaveral on Sunday, according to CruiseMapper. The Icon of the Seas is considered by cruise industry experts to be the largest cruise ship in the world at the moment, the Miami Herald reported. The Carnival team learned of six additional crew members from the small cargo vessel, and alerted US Coast Guard officials. Carnival officers aboard the ship spotted the men on a bright orange, reflective life raft through the darkness of the early morning and brought them aboard the ship.

Before sunrise on Wednesday, December 13, Carnival Vista rescued six men on a life raft. Carnival Cruise Line’s Fleet Operations Center in Miami had received an emergency alert, and reached out to Carnival Vista as close to the reported location. The ship’s master, Captain Paolo Severini, immediately altered the ship’s course to search for the craft. Upon reaching the alert’s location, about 30 miles north of Puerto Plata, the officers on the Carnival Vista spotted a life raft.

Newsweek is committed to challenging conventional wisdom and finding connections in the search for common ground. "We'd abandoned ship by then because we were listing. She [the yacht] was in very bad shape." "I just quickly got on the phone and contacted everybody I could get hold of at that time in the morning," he said. Realizing the seriousness of their predicament, Johnson made several calls to alert people of the situation.

They were holding onto debris of the vessel, named Two Brothers, which sank approximately 30 miles north of Puerto Plata. “The ship’s officers then spotted six men on a life raft and stopped to rescue them and bring them on board,” the cruise line said. The men’s small cargo vessel had capsized overnight and another six who were on the boat were on another life raft — which was later located and rescued by the Coast Guard. Once safely aboard the cruise ship, the pair were evaluated by Carnival’s medical staff and given first aid as well as food and water.

The problems started after a thick rope which had been floating in the ocean became caught in the engine, tearing a hole in the hull, The Australian reported. “On the way to Amber Cove the Carnival Vista rescued this life raft,” a woman posted along with the rescue video on TikTok. Workers aboard the Carnival Jubilee spotted the pair paddling in a small yellow and orange kayak off the coast of Isla Mujeres, Mexico. The Coast Guard stepped in and was able to find and save the other stranded men using a helicopter and lift them to safety.

It is not known whether the rescued crew members have remained aboard the cruise ship or if they were transferred to Coast Guard authorities. It is also possible they will be turned over to the appropriate authorities at the ship’s next port of call, Amber Cove in the Dominican Republic. Passengers aboard the Icon of the Seas captured video of the crew using a small vessel to ferry the group to the safety of the cruise ship on Sunday. The cruise had begun in Miami, and the ship was headed for Honduras when the rescue happened, passengers said. Transoceanic life rafts are designed for more serious conditions and are more ruggedly built with additional and larger ballast bags and self-righting inflating canopies. They have an extensive equipment list including a drogue (sea anchor) to help with stability and to minimize drift away from your originally reported position.

Weight (typically pounds for a valise and upwards of 170 pounds for canister versions) is a key issue especially for rafts that will have to be moved and thrown off the boat manually. "I was looking at spending the whole night at sea and we only had to spend two and a half hours in the life raft," he said. Lt. Cmdr. Jeb Slick, the mission’s copilot, praised the crew’s dedication and training, which were crucial under the less-than-ideal weather conditions. The rescue swimmer deployed by the aircrew successfully hoisted all survivors onto the helicopter, who were then transferred to emergency medical services in Puerto Plata.

The incident, which unfolded on December 13, also saw the involvement of the US Coast Guard, which later rescued an additional six crewmembers. He immediately altered the ship’s course, in coordination with Carnival’s Fleet Operations Center in Miami, when the onboard monitoring system received an emergency alert. Crew members of a Carnival cruise ship rescued two men stranded in the Gulf of Mexico Monday. They are now travelling onboard the ship which will arrive in Brisbane on the eastern coast of Australia on Saturday as scheduled, 7NEWS reported. #BREAKING A @USCG OPBAT MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew rescued six people, Wed., after their vessel sank about 30 miles north of Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic.

"Amazing to think this all happened on World Maritime Day a celebration of seafarers." The 811-foot-long Pacific Dawn—which was in the middle of a seven-night cruise of the South Pacific—diverted from its planned route and made a beeline for the stranded yachtsmen. They said their boat had sank and they used the kayak to stay afloat, Carnival said in a statement. "It was definitely a heart-wrenching experience," said Victoria Foster who was worried the others wouldn’t be saved. She says the entire rescue took about an hour, and she wasn’t sure if they’d make it to safety. "So we abandoned, we abandoned ship by then because it was already lifting and she was in ... she was in very bad shape."

These rafts usually come with insulated inflatable floors for thermal protection and more comprehensive inspection ports so you can spot a rescue vessel on the horizon. "Marine rescue authorities in Noumea asked Pacific Dawn to divert to assist the three seafarers after receiving their distress call," the statement read. The cruise ship rescued six people from the flimsy orange raft, but six others were still out there. A life raft serves as a floating platform to keep you out of the water in case your primary vessel sinks or catches fire. Some people choose to forgo a life raft and opt instead to use their dinghy or inflatable as a secondary source of buoyancy in case of disaster. These may work on lakes, rivers and in near-coastal areas where rescue may be imminent.

"It is wonderful to know that the three seafarers are safe and well. The captain gave guests regular updates on the sea rescue mission. Chances are, you do if you’re planning to do coastal or blue water passage making. It’s an insurance item that you hope you don’t need and don’t want to spend much money on but don’t get tempted to go cheap, or worse, without. Eventually, the Pacific Dawn—which was carrying around 2,000 people—reached the three men floating in their life raft, and a rescue vessel was dispatched to retrieve them.
